All About Notting Hill

Notting Hill has always been a London hotspot and the one of the few areas in central London that did well during the midst of the Pandemic. Loved by many for being bohemian, colourful and quirky. Notting Hill is great fit for so many kinds of people – families, professionals and students. Those who want a typical London home will be spoilt for choice here, with most of the homes being historic townhouses that have now been converted into flats. Residents don’t need to go far to look for entertainment – Notting Hill is a hotspot for some of the trendiest restaurants, bars and shops.

Real Estate

Notting Hill has long been considered one of London’s prime neighbourhoods. For something in top shape on one of Notting Hill’s prime streets, buyers should be prepared anywhere from £2,000 - £3,000 (or higher) per square foot. It is possible to find good properties around £1,500-£2,000 per square foot, however these might not be as a high end/prime. To give an idea on rough pricing, here are some figures from estate agents Marsh and Parsons;

Average one bedroom price: £750,000

Average two-bedroom price: £1,350,000

Average four bedroom: £3,000,000

Some of the most in-demand location are the famous crescents around Ladbroke Grove  – these are beautiful streets that have classic Notting Hill houses (some of which have been converted into apartments) that have private gardens which back on to communal gardens. These houses are as well located as they are charming – they are a close walk to both Westbourne Grove and Portobello Road.

Leisure

Notting Hill has some of the best independent shops and restaurants within the borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It also has one of London’s most iconic markets on Portobello Road. It’s famous for its antiques, however in recent years it’s been a popular place for vintage clothing and jewellery. The most popular day is Saturday, where the whole road becomes an open market.

Some of my favourite restaurants can be found in Notting Hill. For brunch, Granger and Co is a local gem. If you’re going on the weekend, be prepared to wait in line for a table. Ottolengi is one of my favourite places for lunch – a small deli offering flavours from the Middle East and North Africa, created by the celebrated chef Yotam Ottolengi. One of the trendiest new restaurants is called Gold, which is a great place for a night out – great food and nice ambiance.
